What this is
A research prototype of a classroom attendance system that recognises students from the classroom camera. Volunteers' faces let us measure how accurately it recognises people from different angles.
What we collect
- Your name, email address and college registration number.
- About 20 "face embeddings": lists of 512 numbers that describe your face from different angles. They are used to compare faces. They are not photos, but we still treat them as sensitive personal data.
We don't keep any photos or video of you. Each camera frame is processed on our server as it arrives and then discarded. We don't record audio, location or anything else about your device.
How it is used
Only to develop and test this recognition system, for example by checking whether it recognises you correctly in test footage. Your data is not sold, not shared with anyone outside the project, and not used for anything else.
Where it is kept, and for how long
On the project's own computer, not with a cloud provider. We keep it until the research project ends and then delete it, or sooner if you withdraw.
Your choices
Taking part is voluntary. When you finish registering you get a withdrawal code. Enter it on the withdraw page at any time to delete your face data and details immediately. If you lose the code, email vkarthikgovindan@gmail.com from the address you registered with.
